Bluetooth, Android, Hardware Contest! Show us what you got!

Contest Runs: May 9th through May 31st

Calling all Android Developers, IoT Engineers, and Makers! We are hosting a contest for HelmetSmart!

The Contest

  • Create a device/hack that shows us your skill/abilities to connect bluetooth hardware to Android application.

  • We are using this task to pick a Freelancer for this Project, and we see this as a great way to find a great freelancer! We may even be looking for a full time teammate in the future.

  • Target hardware is the NXP KW40Z (ARM Cortex M0+) core with integrated multi-protocol radio for BLE RF connectivity. (none is mandatory but will effect how we judge):

    • Develop a BLE stack from scratch or based on the Kinetis Connectivity Framework (KW40Z Bluetooth® low energy v4.2 stack, v1.1.4)
    • Hooks for secure data transmission and low power modes/wakeup are a bonus.
    • Need functions for pairing, data reception, and data transmission that can be integrated into a wider embedded application.

Judging Criteria

One submission will be selected as the winner.

You are not mandated to use any specific technology – however we will give extra points to those contestants who do this.

We will be looking for the most well executed hack/device that demonstrates the contestants ability to work with our Helmet Smart device.

Custom CC2650 SensorTag - 3D Orientation sensor Demo using Bluetooth


This video is a demonstration of the 3D orientation sensor developed by me for Vegam solutions. It is a customized version of Texas Instruments CC2650 Sensor Tag. It can support Bluetooth and Zigbee with firmware changes. CC2650 is SOC (System on Chip) meaning that it has a inbuilt microcontroller which you can use to write your own code in it to access the on chip Bluetooth and Zigbee peripherals. we used in it over the networking which is range less. but if anyone want its controlling or any other hardware controlling through WiFi or blue-tooth then i can change the modes and can do proper work easily and satisfactory
