What would you recommend Ruby vs Node for someone staring a project from scratch?

I certainly do like both a lot. I feel Ruby is somewhat a more matured and structured language. JS has its own faults which they are trying to fix with new ES versions. However for me the fact that JS has easy Async ways of doing stuff makes me choose it over Ruby. May be it’s time to try something like Go.

For me the key value of Javascript is the ability to share code and knowledge across the stack. It certainly isn’t my favorite language but I look at it as a good investment.

Javascript is easy and straight forward way of coding. That’s something I recommend to any beginners. I cannot comment on Ruby as I never got an chance to work with it. Sometimes I feel, it doesn’t matter which programming language you use, in the end it will be interpreted or compiled.

PS : Choosing a suitable programming language based on various factors like performance, flexibility, comfortness etc. is a key thing.
