This is a nice tested concept which helps us in navigation. A modified version of this could be used in coffee bot, but we need to discuss more on that.
Here’s a short summary of how it works.
It helps us navigate to a specific location which has already been traversed by a person who’s familiar with the area.
This system uses a leader follower type of approach where the leader, called as “guide leader” is assumed to know the area well and records the path in his smartphone. The phone uses multiple in-built sensors and stores this information. This will then be sent to others who require navigation assistance to reach the place. Any person who has this recorded path can use it to reach the location.
In coffee bot, we can train it to reach the required position by guided navigation initially. This acts like training. This training could help it reach the table. however, we need additional obstacle avoidance to be implemented.
