Does anyone have experience with displaying/implementing the circular icon notification for Android Apps?

Although doing this with default app icon not supported by Google, its still possible using third party libraries and not all phones support that for example phones running stock android

Check out his library, https://github.com/leolin310148/ShortcutBadger

An authentic way to do this is to develop a simple widget that looks similar to icon and add badger in its layout…

+Nouman Tahir Awesome suggestion, I checked out that lib and even with the restriction, that’s still very good coverage, much appreciated.

I think Steve was referring to an overlay on the app icon, so on your android home screen it would say a number next to the icon, for example the number of notifications which are unread

Few Working Methods

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17565307/how-to-display-count-of-notifications-in-app-launcher-icon

Multiple methods are mentioned with necessary working codes…
Method 1: as already pointed… Widgets instead of App Launcher Icons.
Method 2: use of TouchWiz API (Facebook does this)
Method 3: use of ShortcutBadger Library (Sony does this)

Bi Sh really appreciate your work, I would like to narrow down the methods.

Using touchwiz method will only effect Samsung devices but Shortcut Badger can target a whole lot devices including Samsung, only exception are the devices running Stock Android.

perhaps we call also consider developing icon widget along with ShortcutBadger implementation aside., this way we can target Stock Android as well.
