Cool India Start-Up Launch Contest

I’m Gerry DeSeve an engineer based in Philadelphia. I developed an open source technology which helps keep people cool. I’m looking for entrepreneurs who want to use the technology to start their own business in India. This contest is for the community to present a business plan.

1. OVERVIEW

This business plan contest is seeking to find, fund and support a start up that can take an innovative new cooling product to market in India.

Project intro video:

2. OPPORTUNITY

The huge demand for cooling in India creates a significant opportunity for entrepreneurs who can disrupt the traditional air conditioning paradigm.

The Cool India project on Collaborizm is one of these disruptive innovations: it is a open-source wearable personal cooling system that is low-cost, light weight and runs using a small amount of power.

The winners of this contest will work with the Collaborizm community to bring to market a product based on the Cool India technology.

The complete Collaborizm project can be found here: https://www.collaborizm.com/project/SJVLyK2uZ and the open source files can be downloaded here:

  2. Aurora prototype - http://coolindia.net/auroraopensource.zip
  3. Aurora detailed fabrication drawings - http://coolindia.net/fabrication.zip
  4. Patent filing documents, which are public domain in India - http://coolindia.net/eemhtcopensource.zip

3. CONTEST CHALLENGE

The goal of this contest is to help you launch a successful new business. The winning entry will be the team with the presentation that best demonstrates how open-source personal cooling can replace traditional air conditioning, lower energy use and reduce pollution in India.

Show us your best ideas in a video, presentation or written Executive Summary.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of (₹36,000 / $550), fundraising support for the long-term operation of your idea, access to the Collaborizm Innovators Fund, mentorship from Collaborizm super mentors, a suite of Autodesk product management tools and full access to the core cooling technology platform.

4. PLAN ELEMENTS

Your contest entry should include:

  • A summary of your business concept
  • The specific problem you’re solving
  • Your solution
  • Details on your specific product or service
  • Your business model (how your solution will generate revenue)
  • An estimate of the total impact your business will make in areas like energy use, emissions or public health
  • Your team (with at least a Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer)
  • The competition
  • A basic financial projection for the next 3 years

Here are some examples of business plan presentations from large well-known companies: http://startupfundraising.com/startup-pitch-decks-that-helped-to-create-billion-dollar-companies/ to give you an idea of what you may want to include.
