Simple lock

Let’s have a simple lock system using latch mechanism with the help of a servo. Let the lock open only when authorised persons place their finger on the finger print sensor. A keypad must be kept to have alternate way to open the lock.
Preferred controller is Arduino as there is good support provided for it. Other controllers also may be used.

the Otp is a better idea… as the authorized person put his thumb on scanner system will generate a random opt and send it through the sms on his phone and he will enter that otp to access the door by using keypad…

Hey guys OTP might be more secure but it makes life difficult for the people. Imagine entering OTP each time you get in your own house. We should think of the quickest way of authenticating. And since this lock is meant for use in apartments, there would be a security personal or cameras installed. Even incidents of manipulating finger prints is not easy to do as entry points are always monitored.

I’m really not sure about the complexities involved with the fingerprint authentication mechanism. Just to try out, one possibility as I mentioned before is using the Keypad. Think about integrating with the crypto keys which can instantaneously display digits for every minute or so. The lock and the crypto key should be linked and registered first so the numbers can be keyed in with the Keypad easily and can be authenticated.

Ranjan Dailata the use of keypad you suggested is exactly what I was thinking of. The finger print sensor idea was just to make the access quicker. However this is just the starting point and we’ll surely work on making it better in the next iteration.
