QUESTION
  ·  Mark as Answered

Are you planning to build the entire app or integrate an existing application like TapTapSee which has features like auto focus alerts and access to libraries etc. I like the goggles idea.

The scope of this project could very well be blue tooth integration of a TapTapSee sort of free mobile application to the goggles using the camera in the goggles in addition to the phone camera. That way if the user has to, for example read the brand of a can / packet on a supermarket shelf above eye level, he could switch to the phone camera instead of the goggles.

If we can get the recognition and focus part out of the way, we can build great functionality into the goggles instead and make it a phone accessory. The goggles can actually read off the phone screen too, start our app on the phone that will help the blind person even recognise social media photos and pics and add tags to store in a library. It could open up a whole new world for them far far beyond the TapTapSee sort of app and all through the ‘eyes’ of the sight empowered goggles for vision inpaired people.

It will work great, cuz even if the processing power of mobile is not enough, we dont need it, can be substituted by server’s processing power

You are on to a good thing, Thomas. Let’s scope it properly, see what we can reuse and run. Speed is of the essence. If we spend too much time reinventing what apps like TapTapSee have already done, we will lose time. Your product I think should very clearly be a mobile accessory so that it can be sold with smartphones - going piggy back is always a good idea to begin with. Once we get going, I can help you showcase it to pharma companies - they might be interested in finding it if it gives them visibility on the marketing front - pun not intended 😃
