Below is a text snippet from the upgrade suggestion document I sent to Steve

Redo of Collaborizm.com welcome page

You may disagree with me on this, and you can, but I am sure I lot of users would agree with me on this

Presenting user with the welcome page (with big banners) every time one visit collarizm.com is really not a good idea, I mean as for me, whenever I visit collaborizm.com the first thing I do is check out my notification and it’s rare that I would scroll down.

My suggestion would be to view the (regular) welcome for users not logged in or users visiting collaborizm for first time

So if not welcome screen then what

Now again thats just my personal suggestion, you have every right to disagree.
I would say divide it in 3 columns just like facebook.com and others, the middle column can have the activity feed so users may get a chance to view new and fresh content every time they visit collaborzm.com

And for the regular welcome page content you guys show now, it can take form of columns on the left and right, and each can expand to full sections with relavent content

This will give us a bunch of benefits actually, first and foremost, users will be tempted to go through news feed no matter what, I mean take facebook for instance, whenever I visit I scroll down at least once and that for no reason…! (because there is new content almost every time, they randomize news feed)

I agree with Nouman Tahir regarding feed.

On top of his and others’ suggestions, it’s easier to read and more welcoming if the page is not cluttered, like https://www.instructables.com/
I like their Let's make ______ search bar.

I think the lesson is show news first and add some customization / personalization to news. For logged out users we can keep the large cover / press bar / other nice things to see if you’ve never seen Collaborizm before.

Robert Lancer, That’s exactly what the idea is…just to add the missing stuff…layout featured stuff and other important stuff on left and right of news feed.
