Brainstorm GIS systems

Possible options

  • Open Street Maps
  • Google Maps
  • Bing
  • Map Quest

Anyone know anymore?

I would lean towards Open Street Maps for this as we wont have to worry about licenses.

change “lat” and “lon” query, its pointing to my location now

output:

{“place_id”:“113056997”,“licence”:“Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL 1.0. http://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright",“osm_type”:“way”,“osm_id”:“229683580”,“lat”:“32.06590095”,“lon”:“72.6779737219751”,“display_name”:"Cantonment, Sargodha, Sargodha District, Punjab, Pakistan”,“address”:{“suburb”:“Cantonment”,“city”:“Sargodha”,“county”:“Sargodha District”,“state”:“Punjab”,“country”:“Pakistan”,“country_code”:“pk”},“boundingbox”:[“32.0657928”,“32.0660053”,“72.6778484”,“72.6780988”]}

pardon me if I get it wrong, you are saying we can skip the server…If so yes we can for now but after reading through docs it seems data we are trying to retrieve from overpass api can get fairly large later on, we might need a server to process all the major data and return fairly simple response to app so major task for app guys will be to focus on how to effectively deliver a soundscape.

p.s. can you tell me which server framework you are using, I wanna learn it so when we get back servers I have a better understanding of it and also assist you in processing maps
