For making this type of engine, first we should work on making such magnet having attractive and repulsive forces so much that it can easily move the piston in the cylinder.

The idea you shared is possible on small level but for running large engine i don’t think this idea will work unless you made a magnet have forces much larger then the existing magnet.

Naveen Yadava motorcycle generally has one cylinder and a car generally has 4 cylinders arranged as parallel pairs of two and when extreme torque is needed like in case of a hyper sport bugati 16 cylinders are arranged parallel combinations of four cylinders in W shape. hope now you get it.

Still you consider the effect of the high power magnet based engines when they are kept aside. Probably the engines may stall. You can test it on bench but not for realtime.
