Updates after speaking with IT department and surgeons

Spoke with the chief IT officer for my anesthesia group in terms of regulatory hurdles that would need to be cleared for app usage within hospital. We wanted to find out what specifically are the requirements for getting an app approved. Once we have a working prototype, they would test and analyze for hipaa compliance, and then we would need to present a webex presentation with the IT department for both the anesthesia and the hosptial group. The process of approval could technically take up to 6 months, dependent on the complexity/features of the app and the size of the hospital.

I also spoke with some of the surgeons at my workplace (bronx lebanon hospital) and they are open to the idea of a perioperative communication app driven by patient status updates. One urology surgeon I spoke with, Dr. Cohen, particularly stated a need for such an app due to the current archaic nature of communication/patient updates present in our institution.
