QUESTION
Open

PCB design and size consideration.

Ravi, what is the consideration for designing a 6 layer PCB? Isn’t that too costly compared to a 2 layer board?

Also, check out this PCB manufacturer. It’s cheap. https://www.seeedstudio.com/fusion_pcb.html

Harsha Thank you for the links. Yes, i felt the technology is not yet so mature for production designs. Because of my experience with one of the 3D design company, The Axiz. They made a enclosure that was not usable. I thought all printers print like that. Recently in one exhibition i saw some good prints out of a delta printer costing around 60K. Will definitely have a look at these.

Ravi It’s possible to get good prints out of a ~₹30k printer, but you will need to calibrate it properly. This might take anywhere between 25-40 test prints of calibration cubes.

You can also use surface finishing by rubbing a cotton dipped in acetone for ABS and ethyl acetate for PLA. For PLA, other options would be resin coats or sand paper.

I’m working on Multi-Function CNC Machine. I can’t give you a definite timeframe for its completion, but when we do, we’ll send you a print.

Harsha Alva Thanks for the information. I need to invest some time learning it. Or may be get one printer and start experimenting. They do smoothing after printing using acetone. Saw some videos on that. I will consider buying one printer. Lets see
Nice project. Will be waiting for the updates. :)

Ravi I have another idea for the enclosure. Why not just enclose it in a thick heat-shrink tube, say of 30 mm unshrunk diameter?

For added strength, you should put lots of hot glue between the PCB and the heat-shrink before shrinking it.

Harsha Man, we both think alike 👍
I thought of that too. But I cant insert the SIM card or remove it. I want customers to put their own SIM card. If i wrap it and sent after Shrinking they cant insert SIM card :D
