John RodriguesKeeping drinks cold or hot is a good use for thermoelectric modules - see http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/96b3/ . But Cool India is designed to keep people cool to save energy and reduce pollution…

John RodriguesYou’re welcome! You replied as I was editing my post to include that TEMs will keep drinks hot too… Just wanted to make sure you saw that 😏

John RodriguesA few things you should know when using TEMs for the coffeeBot:

  1. TEMs will take as much current as they can get, so you will need to limit their draw on the battery. You can have this be code that manages a programmable pin to do pulse width modulation (PWM) via a MOSFET, for example.
  2. You will want to spread the heating or cooling from the TEM across the surface of the cup using something like an aluminum plate attached to the TEM with heat-conductive tape.
  3. You’ll need to add a heat sink to the TEM and a fan for getting rid of the heat. The heat sink will need to taped to the TEM with heat-conductive tape.
  4. TEMs reverse their heat exchange when current is reversed. So you can switch between cooling and heating using a dual-pole / dual-throw (DPDT) switch.

LMK if you have any questions or need more help as things progress - I’m happy to help however I can.
