Need help in finalizing the project features

Hey everyone, A brief description of the project is posted in the project story but we need to narrow down on the features. Kindly suggest what features do we keep in the project and your views to implement them. It would also be nice if you could tell about how you could help in bringing the project to life.

NFC could work and would avoid the need to have any interface on the lock

NFC isn’t ubiquitous outside the first world. Have to keep that in mind.

I’d say for a prototype NFC is fine but to Harsha Alva 's point anything brought to market should probably have a key pad so users without NFC / smart phones can just enter a one time use code

I think it’s a good idea to use NFC but as mentioned by Harsha Alva and Robert Lancer NFC alone isn’t enough. We need a keypad or some other means to open the lock. There must be some bypass methods kept. I think good options to consider here are keypad, magnetic strip cards, finger print scanner or RFID tags. We could also keep a physical key.
We also need to consider one very important thing, that’s emergency situations. If there’s fire, what has to be done for evacuation.
One thought I have in mind is, if the fire alarm is triggered, the security must be relaxed. But we also need to see that this should not be misused. What are your thoughts on this?

Since the door will only prevent entry and not exit fire shouldn’t be a concern, unless I’m missing something?

I had thought about the worst case of fire or any other emergencies. Say that there’s a need for some person from outside to get into the building for recuse, here they’ll have to enter through these doors with security. In such cases there should be some master key which only police or fire dept have access.
I suppose the fire exists in the building could let us ignore this.
