We can keep 8+ rotors in a circularly symmetrical fashion so that even if one of the rotor fails, the AI that we may program in it will prevent it from toppling.

Hi. In a octa copter or a quad copter if one rotor fails no am out of AI will be able to tackle the situation because the physics behind such a situation will throw the entire structure into a spin. The only way to stop that failure from taking place is to stop the opposite rotor from rotating. That way the arm will.not generate uncontrolled torque and the system will stay in.balance.

I do not understand the reason behind this project, when a personal drone has been already designed, built and presented to the public , why reinvent ( goofly ) the wheel ?

It’s a good idea, BT I think 8+ rotors aircraft will defeat the purpose, which is to build a compact, one seater autonomous copter for small distances.

@vincenzo,yes, the personal drones technology exists already. we are making it autonomous and more of a ‘common people’ thing.
