Bro your idea i good and interesting but you are thinking that the robot map out the whole room and get his way our and also send this data to computer wirelessly ??? the first problem i think it will face is that if you want the robot to map out the whole room so it will map it in 3D Graphics but that Rendering will take 2 or 3 hours !!! and that’s so long time and after that when you will send the data to computer that will also take 15 mins because that file will be large in size. After that , if we can fix it anyway or i’am wrong than we can make one 😄 because i have seen some Robots which walks on a straight line … then we can make a motion sensor ROBOT

hi, interesting project, do you know processing? is a software for “programming for artist” in java, python, etc, (not any c), maybe you can take the distance mesure by ultrasonic sensor and send to pc to draw the points in a space in processing, in this way you can create a 2d map, of course the objects in most of case are no regular in form, for this case maybe you can use more ultrasonic sensor in the same direction and take the most short distance, then the robot take the most secure distance, for position of the robot, this can by estimate with encoders (with some error in time).

to reduce the memory uses… we can only transmit the changes not the entire room map… l
