The idea of this project came from my brothers dream to track his live stock farm house from miles away. Cumulatively he have around 30+ cow in farm spread at around 200 yards and he wants to track the a number factors associated with them including environment temperature humidity, tracking milking, medication of each cow and their presence in herd and automated controlling of a number of stuff like showers, fans, food, water reservoirs based on feedback from these tracking sensors
** It’s a weekend project, so it ll get developed at a rather slow pace
Teammates & Contributors I’m Looking For
I am looking for people who have some experience with high level IOT development platforms, wireless communication protocols and schema development
Where I Need the Most Help
One of the challenges in this project is communication between devices and the final control system. This is a challenge because it wont be feasible to use simple wired communication over so long distances of 200 yards, so each sensor and actuator should be able to communicate and power itself working independently while in connection with others
Another challenge, and probably the biggest one, is the automated tracking of milking of each cow independently, tracking quantity timing and milk readings, also avoiding over-milking.
Why Sponsor This Project?
Right now this project is just for a local farm my brother own but who knows once its developed it may take a form of mega project. So, feel free to play your part and become a contributor, I wont bite…:D
Why I’m Passionate About This Project
This is the era of IOT and connected devices, I believe through this project I ll be able solve a bunch of problems faced by many farm house owners because it can offer a really flexible way of tracking your farm from miles away with very easily installable standalone devices.
Another reason I wanna work on this is to get my hands on to latest Android Things OS and put it’s power to some good use
Supporting Material & Info
Still need to research about this, for now it’s just a closed project being developed for a single farm
